Research Laboratory Tech Sr - Term Limited

This job will involve teaming with lab members and the PI to generate data, ensure general lab safety, laboratory organization, inventory and equipment maintenance, and regulatory compliance. The technician must have strong experience in scientific record keeping and in generating high-quality laboratory results in areas relevant to the laboratory's research.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and 1 year of related research experience.
- An equivalent combination of undergraduate education and experience may be accepted.
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- At least a subset of the desired qualifications.
Desired Qualifications:
- Technically meticulous and highly organized team player
- Experience in Mac OS and software relevant to lab work such as Microsoft Office, technical drawing software such as Adobe Creative Suite, and manuscript preparation and DNA analysis software Endnote and DNAStar.
- Experience with basic molecular techniques and quantitative assays, including RT-PCR based assays.
- Experience with mammalian tissue culture, transfection, virus propagation and quantification.
- Experience in high throughput sequencing library preparation and analysis, such as basic bioinformatics programming skills.
Please note: This is a 1-year term appointment. At the end of the stated term, your appointment will terminate, and will not be eligible for Reduction-in-Force (RIF) benefits. This term-limited appointment does not create a contract or guarantee of employment for any period of time as you will remain subject to disciplinary or other performance measures, up to and including termination, at the will of the University in accordance with existing University policy and standards for employee performance and conduct.
