About the role

Are you an experienced project manager looking to take a leading role in delivering an ambitious global research programme at the intersection of climate, health and policy?

We are seeking a Research Manager to support the Wellcome Trust–funded project Financing a Just Green Transition in Indonesia, ensuring the smooth operation of a multi-institution partnership involving Imperial College London, Universitas Brawijaya, Universitas Padjadjaran, the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD), and other academic and NGO partners.

You will be instrumental in ensuring smooth cross-institutional collaboration, supporting reporting requirements, contributing to strengthening project management capacity within Indonesian partner universities, and allowing the research team to focus on producing high-impact science.

What you would be doing

  • Lead day-to-day project management for a large, international research consortium.
  • Coordinate work package timelines, milestones and deliverables across partners in the UK and Indonesia.
  • Support preparation of research progress reports for Wellcome.
  • Organise meetings, workshops and advisory board sessions, and manage follow-up actions.
  • Maintain and improve the project’s knowledge repository, documentation systems and version control.
  • Track workflow across a multidisciplinary team and ensure smooth communication between academics, administrators and external partners.
  • Assist with recruitment processes, onboarding and team coordination.
  • Provide essential administrative and organisational support that enables the Principal Investigator and research team to focus on scientific outputs.

What we are looking for

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has demonstrable experience in project management or managing complex research programmes.
  • Communicates clearly and confidently across diverse teams and international partners.
  • Can work independently, organise competing priorities and take initiative to solve problems.
  • Has strong administrative, organisational and digital skills, including document and version management.
  • Enjoys working in a collaborative environment and supporting others’ success.
  • Shows excellent attention to detail and the ability to track progress across multiple workstreams.
  • Brings interest in global health, climate policy or international development (desirable but not essential).

What we can offer you

  • The opportunity to contribute to a high-profile, interdisciplinary project addressing climate change, environmental exposures and health equity.
  • A chance to work closely with leading researchers at Imperial and international partners in Indonesia.
  • A supportive, inclusive and collaborative team environment where your contribution will shape project delivery.
  • The opportunity to grow your career in research management at a world-leading institution.
  • Access to Imperial’s sector-leading staff benefits, including:
    • Sector-leading salary and remuneration package (including 41 days’ annual leave and generous pension schemes).
    • A range of workplace benefits including a flexible working policy from day one, generous family leave packages, on-site leisure facilities and cycle-to-work scheme.
    • Interest-free season ticket loan schemes for travel.
  • Be part of a diverse, inclusive and collaborative work culture with various staff networks and resources to support your personal and professional wellbeing.
