The role | Te mahi

The Dunedin Dementia Prevention Research Clinic (Dunedin DPRC) is part of a national network of research clinics longitudinal studies investigating the causes of memory and functional decline in older adults. This is funded by a Neurological Foundation platform grant and the NZ Dementia Prevention Trust. We aim to identify the underlying processes that lead to cognitive impairment and to test new interventions that may delay or prevent the onset and progression of dementia.

The Dunedin DPRC recruit individuals in the very early stages of cognitive decline or dementia and monitors the natural course of their condition, while also exploring potential strategies that may slow or modify disease progression.

As a Clinical Research Nurse, you will play a key role in supporting this work. You will assess participants, interview study partners, coordinate assessments with the multidisciplinary team, and perform procedures such as blood testing, coordinating MRI and PET scans. You will also liaise with the Auckland and Christchurch DPRC teams to ensure research processes and assessments are aligned across New Zealand.

Successful candidates will have:

•    Are registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and who hold a current practicing certificate.

•    A high level of proficiency in computer applications including word processing, email, database management.

•    Strong organisation and time management skills with precision in data handling and input.

•    Phlebotomy skills are an advantage but not essential. 

•    A commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and to equal opportunity

and equity within medical education and the wider health system

You will be working in a team with neurologists, a neuropsychologist and scientific research fellow, as well as liaising with the Christchurch and Auckland DPRCs.

You need to have excellent communication skills with an ability to relate to a wide range of stakeholders including participants, study partners, referrers and the research team.

This is a part-time (11.25 hours per week) fixed-term role, continuing until December 2027. The start date can be negotiated. This role is based in Ōtepoti, Dunedin.

The appointment range is $84,147 to $106,319 per annum (pro-rata) depending on skills, qualifications and experience.
