This is an exciting opportunity for a visionary and inquisitive Postdoctoral Research Fellow to advance cutting-edge research in cellular and antibody-based immunotherapies within a highly collaborative and translational research environment. Working alongside leading researchers in CAR-NK and CAR-T cell engineering and antibody immunotherapy, you will contribute to ambitious cancer research programs with real-world impact, while building your independent research profile in a supportive, purpose-driven team aligned with UQ’s commitment to creating change together.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Research: Produce high-quality research outputs through publication in reputable outlets; contribute to competitive research funding applications; collaborate on interdisciplinary projects; and support translation and commercialisation of research outcomes.
  • Supervision and Researcher Development: Contribute to supervision of Honours, Masters and/or HDR students; support researcher development through feedback and mentoring; and, where appropriate, assist with managing research support staff.
  • Citizenship and Service: Contribute to internal service roles and committees; and begin developing external partnerships with industry, government and the wider community.

This is a research focused position. Further information can be found by viewing UQ’s Criteria for Academic Performance.

About You

  • Completion or near completion of a PhD in immunology, cell biology, molecular biology, or a related discipline.
  • An emerging research profile in cellular and/or antibody-based immunotherapy.
  • Hands-on expertise in cell engineering techniques, including CAR-T and/or CAR-NK generation and functional characterisation.
  • Proficiency in molecular biology methodologies, including plasmid design, viral preparation, and transduction protocols.
  • Experience with in vitro and in vivo immunological assays, including cell culture, tumour killing assays, cytokine profiling, and mouse models of cancer.
  • Proficiency in flow cytometry, including panel design, acquisition and data analysis.
  • Evidence of publications in refereed journals and presentations at conferences.
  • Experience contributing to applications for external research funding.
  • A collaborative, inclusive approach and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary research teams.
