Salary from £42,679 to £51,000 per annum inclusive with potential to progress to £54,730 per annum inclusive of London allowance.

This is a fixed-term appointment for 2 years with potential to extend for an additional year.

This full-time position is part of Dr. Milena Tsvetkova’s ERC-funded project “HUMANET: Human-Machine Social Systems” in the Department of Methodology. The project will employ virtual-lab and field experiments, agent-based models, and web data mining and analysis to investigate how humans interact with intelligent machines such as algorithms and bots, how human-machine interactions differ from human-human and machine-machine interactions, and how these interactions affect collective outcomes such as cooperation and social contagion in networks and online communities.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have successfully completed or be close to completing a PhD in computer science, information science, data science, social psychology, sociology, psychology, computational social science, or a related field by the post start date.
  • Have research experience with mining and analysing web data, developing interactive web applications such as games and bots, designing and conducting online experiments, and/or working with agent-based models and simulations.
  • Have a research interest in human-computer interaction, AI, and/or bots.
  • Have a commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration.

We offer an occupational pension scheme, generous annual leave, hybrid working, and excellent training and development opportunities.
