Research Officer in Seed Technology
Job Description:
Advance research in seed technology and support teaching in seed quality and production to strengthen the future of the seed industry.
Mō te tūka | The role
Join our Agricultural Sciences team to lead research projects on sustainable seed bag options and seed treatments for pathogen control. You’ll also contribute to teaching and industry training, helping shape the next generation of agribusiness professionals.
Some tasks of the role include:
- Design, plan and carry out research projects in seed technology
- Collect, analyse and interpret complex data using statistical methods
- Prepare manuscripts and publish research findings
- Present research at seminars, workshops and conferences
- Assist with undergraduate teaching and lab support
- Organise and support industry seed training courses
Fixed term role from January 2026 to January 2029, 37.5 hours per week (1.0 FTE) at our Lincoln Campus.
Kā tino Pūkeka/Whēako | Essential skills/experience for the role
You will have:
- A degree in agriculture, plant science or a related discipline (postgraduate preferred)
- Proven research experience and relevant technical skills
- Familiarity with seed treatment options and current teaching practices
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to engage diverse learners
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Commitment to using technology and innovation to enhance teaching and research
