Offer Description
Background of the recruitment and description of the project
The missions of RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing (RQC) are to deepen our understandings of quantum mechanics and quantum information, develop techniques for quantum control and measurement, build quantum computing hardware and software, and explore novel applications. We promote basic research on quantum information science and contribute to society through quantum technology.
In our laboratory, we study floating electrons on the surface of liquid helium or solid neon. These physical systems hold high potential as an ideal platform for realizing quantum computers, as they are free of impurities and defects. We are also working on the technological development required for large-scale quantum computation.
Keywords: low temperature physics, Quantum computer, qubit, two-dimensional electron system, helium, neon
Details of the business: RIKEN is Japan's largest and most comprehensive research organization for basic and applied science.
Work content and job description
Research on quantum information processing using electrons floating on liquid helium or solid neon, and participation in international collaborations with the University of Notre Dame (USA), Florida State University (USA), and the University of Augsburg (Germany) under the ASPIRE project "Realization of Spin Qubits Using Electrons Floating on Solid Neon".
Applicants' primary responsibility will be to perform device fabrication in close collaboration with team members working on the above research.
