Position Highlights

The University of Arizona's Coit Center for Longevity and NeuroTherapeutics invites qualified applicants to join a brand-new, innovative research laboratory in chemical biology in neuroscience related field in the position of Research Professional I. This position offers a unique opportunity to conduct cutting-edge research with a focus on exploring fat clearance pathways and their implications in neurodegenerative diseases. As a key member of a newly established lab, the successful candidate will have a significant opportunity to shape and drive the research direction.

We seek an enthusiastic individual motivate about advancing scientific discovery, performing biochemical and molecular assays, contributing to high-impact research projects, and possibly providing mentorship to graduate and undergraduate students. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), help conduct research experiments in areas such as cell culture, primary neuron culture, and organelle separation.
  • Support the execution of the research plan designed outlined by the PI with analyzing experiment output and results. Observe and may participate in the research planning and design process with PI.
  • Assist PI with performing biochemical and molecular assays, including but not limited to western blotting, RNA isolation and qPCR, molecular cloning and shRNA techniques, designing primers, Luminescence- and fluorescence-based assays, and flow-cytometry.
  • Analyze datasets and interpret results that will contribute to high-impact publications and grant proposals.
  • Assist with lab maintenance including planning and coordinating timelines to ensure timely completion of objectives.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to graduate and undergraduate students as needed by fostering their research skills and professional development.
  • Assist PI with the collection of research data and visuals to help prepare manuscripts, presentations, and grant applications.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams within the department and university to help establish the lab's research program.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data and interpret results effectively.
  • Excellent project management skills, including organizational, budgeting, and time-management abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to contribute to publications and presentations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented academic environment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
  • One year of relevant work experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Neuroscience, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
  • 2-5 years of research experience in a relevant field.
