The University of Arizona Lunar and Planetary Laboratory (LPL) is seeking a qualified candidate to join its Planetary Photogrammetry Research Group as a Research Professional II. This full-time position is funded for one year and is available for immediate start.

This is an Extended Temporary Employment position.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Verify and validate topographic products in accordance with contract requirements.
- Confirm data completeness across designated areas, identifying and addressing any gaps.
- Utilize techniques such as rendering topography along with image data to assess alignment with surface features.
- Compare topographic data against existing reference datasets or internally generated alternatives.
- Analyze topographic models of the lunar surface for quality assurance.
- Apply quality control techniques to assess accuracy, completeness, and reliability of topographic data.
- Develop and document procedures for geospatial and photogrammetric quality analyses.
- Reference and apply standard measures of precision and accuracy for topographic data, including linear error, circular error, and estimated vertical precision.
- Prepare and submit monthly written progress reports and presentations in accordance with contract requirements.
- Conduct a final PDS-style review and produce a comprehensive report for each site.
- Document all methods and techniques developed.
- Ensure all deliverables are completed and documented.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of geospatial information systems (GIS) and remote sensing.
- Knowledge of Planetary Data System (PDS), BAE System's SOCET SET/GXP, or Ames Stereo Pipeline.
- Knowledge of the principles of photogrammetry.
- Knowledge of GIS software applications such as ArcPro and QGIS.
- Skill in geospatial programming using tools like Python and GDAL.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
- Experience in generating and analyzing topographic data from stereo imagery using photogrammetry and shape-from-shading techniques.
- Experience in remote sensing image processing techniques.
- Experience in topographic product creation and validation.
