Research Professors in topics underpinning Low Carbon Technologies
Trinity College Dublin invites expressions of interest to the Global Talents Ireland program with expertise underpinning to the deployment of Low Carbon Technologies.
Low Carbon Technologies is identified as the broad set of technology and organisational concepts which must be deployed at scale in order for society to decarbonize in the Net Zero by 2050 time frame.
Trinity College Dublin has identified research of Low Carbon Technologies as an area of strategic importance to Ireland by founding the Trinity Research Institute for Low Carbon Technology which currently comprises four focus areas:
- Low Carbon Power and Propulsion.
- Sustainable Aviation.
- Carbon Capture and Utilisation
- Low Carbon Supply Chains.
Trinity invites expressions of interest to the Global Talents Ireland program in these and other areas which will grow the Trinity Research Institute for Low Carbon Technology, focussing at the device level on topical areas that include but are not limited to:
- Bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS).
- Battery Technology.
- Electrochemical or thermochemical reduction of carbon dioxide.
- Sea water hydrogen generation technology concepts.
- Advanced thermofluid power cycles.
- Combustion science and engineering of low carbon fuels.
- Chemical looping energy conversion concepts.
- Production technologies for low carbon advanced materials.
- Sustainable chemical conversions from lignocellulosic biomass
- Innovation in lifecycle assessment methodologies.
- Techno economic assessment of low carbon technologies.
- Power systems engineering.
- Regulation and policy foresight of low carbon technologies.
The Global Talent Ireland program is a strategic initiative by the government of Ireland which can be studied here.
Global Talent Ireland aims to attract exceptional mid-career and established researchers from across the globe to Ireland. Researchers funded through this programme are required to transfer their research activities from their current location to an Eligible Research Body in Ireland. Given its commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, Trinity College Dublin welcomes applications from women, men and those from historically underserved communities. The programme budget includes the resources to build a research team (e.g., staff, consumables and travel) to carry out high-impact, world-class research, and additional start-up costs to support the researcher’s move to Ireland.
