Research Program Coordinator
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Research Program Coordinator to join the Implementation IMPACT Lab (IMPlementation Science to Accelerate Community Translation) led by Dr. Shellie Ellis. The IMPACT Lab focuses on advancing precision medicine and improving evidence-based care delivery in rural health settings by integrating Implementation Science, Health Services Research, and community-based approaches to address health disparities. The Research Program Coordinator will provide critical support across two major initiatives: the Thrive Kansas Digital Mental Health Initiative and TEAMSPORT and will contribute to other research initiatives as they arise.
For Thrive, Kansas statewide digital therapeutic strategy, the Research Program Coordinator will manage all evaluation activities across multiple workstreams to ensure project effectiveness and accountability. This includes planning, scheduling, and aligning evaluation tasks with implementation milestones while maintaining comprehensive workplans, timelines, and deliverables. They will serve as a primary liaison between implementation, technical, and administrative teams, translating complex findings into reports for leadership, funders, and regulatory partners.
Additionally, the Research Program Coordinator will support TEAMSPORT, an NCI-funded project implementing pathologist-initiated genomic testing in rural communities. In this role, they will lead team-building interventions, facilitate the standardization of genomic testing protocols, and coach clinician champions to implement reflex testing. The Research Program Coordinator will be responsible for building cross-organizational relationships with clinical specialists and oncology researchers to foster program sustainment.
Administrative duties include supervising project staff, managing IRB documentation and regulatory compliance, and interacting with institutional research offices. The Research Program Coordinator will also contribute to scholarly activities, including the preparation of manuscripts and presentations to disseminate study findings to the broader research community.
Additional position details:
- Monday through Friday 8:00a.m.- 4:30p.m.
- This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
- This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.
Success in this role requires:
- Strong ability to translate complex data into professional reports and communicate effectively with various stakeholders (clinicians, researchers, and community partners)
- Must be adaptable to changing situations and able to maintain a collegial work environment
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to independently manage multiple, complex workstreams simultaneously; pay close attention to detail; and operate effectively in both in-person and virtual environments
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and demonstrate professional, ethical, respectful, and courteous behavior in all interactions
- Proficiency with data management software (e.g., REDCap, Dedoose or similar software) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proficiency in project management and process mapping software (e.g., Smartsheet, Microsoft Planner, Lucidchart or Visio).
- Proficiency in hosting and managing professional meetings using Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Plans, develops, and implements processes and protocols to support research aims
- Coordinates the daily activities and contracts related to one or more research program(s)
- Develops policies, procedures, and institutional agreements on behalf of the program
- Contributes to academic presentations, manuscripts and grant writing activities
- Monitors program budget(s) and approves unit expenditures
- Assists in the development, coordination, and facilitation of trainings and workshops for internal and external audiences to disseminate research program developments and information
- Serves as a unit liaison and subject matter expert among internal and external stakeholder groups, collaborates across disciplines and functional areas, provides program information, and promotes the accomplishments and developments of scholars and research initiatives
