Research Project Coordinator II (KSAS - Economics)

Johns Hopkins, founded in 1876, is America's first research university and home to nine world-class academic divisions working together as one university.

We are seeking a Research Project Coordinator II who will work closely together with senior faculty and researchers in the design and implementation of research projects in macroeconomics and macro-financial analysis.

The Research Project Coordinator II administratively coordinates the research protocol implementation of a single complex study or multiple studies. Will ensure the efficient logistical implementation of the study activities and provide administrative support for all related issues.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all activities of a complex research study or multiple studies to ensure validity of findings.
  • Work with the Principal Investigator or senior research staff to develop operational plans to meet research goals.
  • Develop tools and procedures for data collection and study processes.
  • Collect and organize data per study requirements, e.g. participant interviews, administer questionnaires; conduct background research, laboratory processing, etc.
  • Ensure adherence to protocols and procedures.
  • Assist with setup of data collection system and enter and organize data.
  • Oversee record management for research study.
  • Oversee budget expenditures for study operations.
  • Assist in coordinating study meetings.
  • Participate in study meetings and provide updates on protocol implementation status and make recommendations on operational issues.
  • Conduct literature searches to provide background information.
  • Other duties as assigned.

In addition to the duties listed above

  • Contribute to the development, estimation, and maintenance of macro econometric and statistical models for forecasting, nowcasting, and risk assessment.
  • Construct, update, and manage large-scale macroeconomic and financial datasets. Implement empirical analyses using time-series and panel data methods.
  • Collaborate on the design and continuous updating of a real-time economic monitoring dashboard.
  • Prepare statistical analyses, tables, and visualizations, conducting literature reviews. Build and maintain reproducible data pipelines.
  • Contribute to the drafting and dissemination of research outputs, including academic papers, policy reports, and presentations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
  • One year of related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education permitted by the JHU equivalency formula beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in monetary policy analysis, macroeconomic forecasting and nowcasting, and risk analysis, as well as familiarity with professional data platforms such as Bloomberg Terminal and Haver Analytics.
  • Required: Proficiency in programming languages for data management and econometric analysis, including Phython, R, Stata, SQL, and MATLAB.
