Job Description Summary
This position manages and oversees research activities within the Program for Research on Men's Health (PRMH), particularly in domestic and global health policy. The Research Project Manager will work with the Director and Research Project Director of the PRMH to lead policy research and advocacy efforts to promote men's health in the United States and globally by developing and nurturing relationships with other non-governmental, governmental, and academic organizations and disseminating findings in ways that are digestable and relevant to policymakers and policy advocates.
Job Description
The Research Project Manager will assist in developing, planning, and conducting PRMH research projects, including establishing and monitoring programmatic metrics to support efficient process planning and management of assigned projects, identifying potential new projects, and reporting on those metrics. The successful candidate will also lead PRMH projects (i.e., set priorities and meet deadlines given resource constraints, organize and facilitate meetings, monitor progress toward established timelines, etc.); identify potential areas for improvement; identify gaps and evaluate solutions; and disseminate key findings via peer-reviewed publications, professional conferences, community-based presentations, and public-facing media in collaboration with PRMH and other colleagues. The successful candidate will also assist with research project data analyses, both qualitative and quantitative.
The successful candidate will understand and apply scholarly concepts and theories to policy and programmatic interventions, as well as to other research. When needed, the Research Project Manager will also help the Research Project Director recruit, screen, and enroll project participants and community organizations; monitor internal and external collaborators; and provide input on budget, resource allocations, and other plans to support PRMH projects and overall functioning.
Anticipating challenges and opportunities will be part of the successful candidate's role in nurturing and maintaining fruitful collaborations, and working with the Director and Research Project Director of the PRMH to expand the program through successful research, advocacy, and policy collaborations. This position requires the ability to network and engage with the community, policy makers, advocacy organizations, professional organizations, and other partners in the United States and across the globe.
Job Responsibilities
- Develops, plans, and directs PRMH research projects under the guidance of and in collaboration with the PRMH Director and Research Project Director
- Assist PIs, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows with research and dissemination activities
- Exercises resource stewardship to ensure compliance with policies and procedures
- Support and advise principal investigators, researchers and staff in the compliant conduct of all projects
- Extend and lead the growth of the research within the PRMH under the guidance of the Director. Directs and manages policy-relevant research program operations
- Utilizes and designs systems that allow for the optimal use of resources (people technology, policies, and procedures) in performing financial and administrative duties
- Manages datasets within research platforms (i.e. REDCap, etc.). Analyzes, interprets, and summarizes project datasets, data reports, and findings for reports and dissemination
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts, and 5 to 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 7 to 10 years of experience and/or or Masters of Science, Masters of Arts, and 5 to 7 or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. Doctoral degree preferred.
