In Carnegie Mellon University's Department of Mechanical Engineering, faculty members, researchers, and students are revolutionizing focus areas in advanced manufacturing, bioengineering, computational engineering, energy and the environment, product design, and robotics. In addition, they are using their expertise in interdisciplinary research centers across the university.

Carnegie Mellon University's department of Mechanical Engineering is searching for a Research Scientist to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You will provide support by developing novel algorithms on finite element method, isogeometric analysis, geometric modeling, machine learning to build digital twins for complex engineering systems to study various applications such as computational biomedicine and mechanics and other tasks assigned to you.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Conduct novel research on algorithm development of digital twins and apply to related biomedical and engineering applications.
  • Publishing on top journals, proposal writings and student mentoring.
  • Manage related projects.
  • Supervise graduate/undergraduate students on research.

Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree in mechanical engineering, mathematics, or related fields in engineering
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience
  • Experience on computational mechanics, finite element simulations, isogeometric analysis, data-driven modeling and scientific machine learning.
  • Experience with computational mechanics, finite element method, isogeometric analysis, geometric modeling, machine learning, data-driven modeling, digital twins
  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
