VACANT POSITIONS:
1. Research Scientist (CS), PhD candidate - R1
Part-time – 2 hours/day
Fixed-term – 12 months
Employment period: 20.10.2026–20.10.2027
Specialization and field of activity: Archaeology – History and archaeology of Roman Dacia: GIS methods and spatial analyses, photogrammetry and 3D modelling of archaeological data.
Minimum and specific requirements for the position:
- graduate holding a Bachelor's degree obtained following completion of long-term university studies in History and/or Archaeology;
- graduate of Master's degree studies;
- enrolled in a PhD programme;
- cumulative score of at least 35 points, according to the annual quantitative performance indicators established by the Scientific Council of the Institute of Archaeology and Art History;
- registered as a junior archaeologist in the Romanian Register of Archaeologists;
- participation in at least six accredited archaeological excavations, certified by certificates issued by the scientific directors of the respective excavations.
2. Research Scientist (CS), PhD candidate - R1
Part-time – 3 hours/day
Fixed-term – 12 months
Employment period: 20.10.2026–20.10.2027
Specialization and field of activity: Archaeology – History and archaeology of the Dacian period and Roman Dacia: analysis, reconstruction and digitisation of metal artefacts.

- graduate of Master's degree studies;
- enrolled in a PhD programme;

Additional Information
Eligibility criteria
Candidates who cumulatively meet the following requirements may participate in the competitive recruitment procedures for contractual positions within the research project entitled “Digital Excellence Centre for Cultural Heritage: Innovation in Digitisation and Digital Exploitation through Cutting-Edge Technologies”:
a) hold Romanian citizenship or the citizenship of another European Union Member State, a State Party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (EEA), or Swiss Confederation citizenship;
b) have knowledge of the Romanian language, both written and spoken;
c) have legal capacity to work in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 53/2003 – Labour Code, republished, as subsequently amended and supplemented;
d) have a state of health appropriate to the position for which they are applying, certified by a medical certificate issued by their family doctor or by authorized healthcare institutions;
e) meet the educational and professional seniority requirements and, where applicable, other specific requirements established for the vacant position;
f) have not been finally convicted of an offence against national security, public authority, humanity, corruption or service-related offences, forgery offences or offences against the administration of justice, or of an intentional offence which would make a person incompatible with holding the contractual position for which they are applying, except where rehabilitation has occurred;

COMPETITION PROCEDURE
The recruitment competitions for the above-mentioned positions will take place at the headquarters of the Romanian Academy, Cluj-Napoca Branch, 9 Republicii Street, or online, and will consist of the following stages:
1. Verification of the fulfilment of general and specific requirements
The fulfilment of the general and specific requirements applicable to candidates will be verified by analysing the application files.
The result of this verification will be ADMITTED / REJECTED.
2. Interview
The interview will consist of questions specific to the profile of the position.
The interview score will be awarded individually by each committee member based on the assessment sheet. The final interview score will represent the arithmetic mean of the scores awarded by each committee member.
Candidates who have received the “ADMITTED” result following the application-file selection stage and have obtained a minimum of 50 points in the interview will be declared admitted.
