Research Senior Technician
The Belote Lab in the Department of Molecular Genetics is looking for a motivated, curious, and industrious Research Senior Technician to join our team. The Belote lab studies how individual melanocytes, commonly known as pigment cells, contribute to multi-organ health through functional diversification. We aim to leverage our understanding of healthy melanocyte heterogeneity to identify mechanistic explanations for the clinical diversity observed within melanocyte associated diseases (melanoma, vitiligo, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, etc..) to inform the discovery of novel therapeutic approaches. We use human and murine tissue and a wide range of techniques to interrogate a variety of systems from intact fresh tissue to individual cells.
The role as a Research Senior Technician is to independently carry out routine and moderately complex technical procedures in a research laboratory setting. The position is expected to contribute the development of advanced technical skills in molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell culture related to melanoma cell growth and proliferation. This position involves executing experiments, recording and interpreting data, troubleshooting routine issues, and serving as a knowledgeable resource for less experienced colleagues when appropriate. The Research Senior Technician is responsible for maintaining clear and accurate records, ensuring proper upkeep of the lab environment, and managing inventory, ordering, and stocking of lab supplies and equipment.
This position is ideal for a dedicated individual with strong communication and organization skills who has a desire to gain extensive research experience as a member of a dynamic team. The Belote lab also has a strong track record of providing mentorship for individuals who have an interest in transitioning to graduate, medical school, and STEM related industries.
