Research Senior Technician
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry within the College of Arts and Sciences seeks a Research Senior Technician to join our team. The Research Senior Technician will assist in designing and executing standard research protocols, recording procedures and results, and training lab members in new established protocols. Specifically, they will prepare proteins and RNAs and carry out assays to test their function. Work with radioisotopes will be required. They will also help with general lab maintenance and record keeping, including weekly radiation surveys, radioisotope inventories, and waste disposal. Other duties include making standard lab stock solutions and competent cells, ordering reagents and supplies, receiving and storing items, maintaining instruments, and organizing lab space and samples.
Qualifications
Required: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required; 4 years of relevant experience required with High School diploma or GED, 2 years of relevant experience required with Associate's Degree, or 0 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree.
Desired: 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred. Experience in protein purification, standard molecular biology techniques including DNA plasmid preparation, RNA preparation and handling, protein and nucleic acid electrophoresis, RNA structure probing, and thermal melting studies.

The pay range for this job profile is $19.28-$25.19. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
