Carnegie Mellon University's department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is seeking a Research Assistant that will contribute to the development and evaluation of computer vision algorithms, with a focus on assessing performance in edge deployment settings. Their role will involve supporting model development, running experiments, and analyzing results to evaluate accuracy and efficiency.
Core Responsibilities:
- Administer and coordinate the technical activities of an educational activity in relation to the operation of a laboratory.
- Acts as an advisor to subordinates to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems.
- Develops and administers budgets, schedules, and performance requirements.
- Frequently coordinates the program activities with responsibility for results in terms of costs, methods, and users.
- Serve as an advisor to faculty to meet schedules and or resolve technical problems.
- Ensure Standard Operating Procedures and protocols are maintained and applied.
- assist with the deployment and testing of these models in real-world or simulated environments, helping ensure reliable performance under practical constraints such as latency and resource limitations.
- Additionally, they will help curate and organize datasets, run evaluations, and document findings.
- Provide hands-on experience with applied computer vision systems, including working with image and video data, and supporting the training and optimization of deep learning models in a research-driven setting.
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered
