Job Summary:
The CU-MESA Research Services Program Manager supports the mission of the CU Medical Education Scholarship Accelerator (CU-MESA) by managing research operations, providing methodological and analytic expertise, and supporting educational scholarship across the School of Medicine. This role independently manages multiple concurrent projects, collaborates closely with faculty, trainees, and institutional partners, and ensures high-quality data collection, analysis, and dissemination. The position emphasizes consultation, project tracking, and applied statistical analysis in support of medical education research and scholarly program evaluation.
The CU-MESA Research Services Program Manager works at the intersection of research operations, data analysis, and program support. The role involves close collaboration with faculty, residents, students, the Professional Research Assistant (PRA), IRB staff, and advisory committees. Responsibilities include supporting the full lifecycle of medical education scholarship projects-from concept development and study design through data collection, analysis, and dissemination-while maintaining systems that allow leadership to monitor project progress and outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
20% - Supervision
- Hire staff and oversee the onboarding and training of team members to ensure they are properly trained and equipped to successfully complete assigned job duties.
- Provide direct supervision to two (2) or more full-time exempt professionals.
- Ensure effective communication and exceptional customer service from the team to faculty, staff, students, and university suppliers.
- Handle workload assignments, performance management, coaching and counseling, and leave management for direct reports.
- Lead the team effectively through change, with a focus on relationship management, buy-in, and adoption.
25% - Program and Project Management
- Creates and maintains a centralized project tracking system that allows CU-MESA leadership to monitor project status, milestones, and outcomes.
- Oversees and tracks all CU-MESA educational scholarship projects to ensure timely progress and alignment with program goals.
- Develops and maintains a public-facing CU-MESA website that describes program offerings and connects faculty, residents, and students with available resources.
- Collaborates with the Professional Research Assistant (PRA) to improve workflows and processes related to the Student Data Advisory Committee (SDAC) and related initiatives.
- Coordinates and supports regular meetings of the CU-MESA advisory board and project teams, including agenda development, documentation, and follow-up.
25% - Research Operations and Consultation
- Performs day-to-day activities related to the implementation of research protocols, including coordinating, leading, and attending meetings with investigators and project staff.
- Serves as a consultant to faculty, residents, and students interested in medical education scholarship by reviewing project ideas and supporting the development of research questions, study designs, and analytic plans.
- Supports projects from initial concept through data collection, analysis, presentation, and dissemination.
- Builds and manages surveys using Qualtrics, ensuring alignment with research objectives, methodology, and best practices.
- Coordinates with IRB staff and the PRA to support regulatory compliance and efficient project workflow.
25% - Data Management and Analysis
- Manages, cleans, and documents complex datasets related to educational outcomes, assessments, surveys, and institutional data sources.
- Performs statistical analyses using appropriate software to support research and evaluation projects.
- Conducts descriptive and inferential analyses, including regression modeling, longitudinal data analysis, and basic psychometric analyses.
- In collaboration with faculty and leadership, communicates analytic findings to diverse stakeholders through written reports, presentations, and consultations.
- Ensures data integrity, reproducibility, and appropriate documentation of analytic methods.
5% - Other Responsibilities
- Participates in continuous improvement of CU-MESA processes and resources.
- Performs other duties as assigned in support of the Office of Medical Education.
Work Location: Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 3 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, quantitative psychology, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research design.
- Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., R, SPSS, SAS).
- Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, quantitative psychology, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Experience supporting educational or health professions research.
- Experience in higher education or academic medicine.
- Experience managing multiple concurrent projects with competing deadlines.
- Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., R, SPSS, SAS).
- Familiarity with IRB processes and research compliance.

Anticipated Pay Range: The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $73,557 - $93,565.
