Job Description Summary
The Research Specialist A/B will support the Integrative Immunology & Cell Design Laboratory (Haj Dezfulian Lab) at the University of Pennsylvania under the supervision of Dr. Mo Haj Dezfulian (lab website). The individual will carry out high-throughput immunological and molecular biology workflows, including cell culture, flow cytometry, next-generation library preparation, and single-cell genomics, to advance projects in T-cell antigen discovery, immune engineering, and synthetic biology, spanning autoimmunity, cancer, and infectious diseases. The role offers training in advanced experimental techniques, participation in collaborative projects, and opportunities to contribute to high-impact publications, while also supporting day-to-day lab logistics (ordering supplies, preparing reagents, inventory, shipments, and scheduling).
In addition to duties above, the Research Specialist B duties will include independent experimental design and optimization; day-to-day leadership of one or more laboratory pipelines with quality control; training and oversight of junior personnel; coordination of equipment setup/maintenance and vendor interactions for a new lab; and advanced data analysis with contributions to methods and figures for manuscripts and grant reports.
Job Description

This position is ideal for candidates with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biology, Immunology, Bioengineering, or a related field who are excited to develop their skills in molecular biology, cell culture, and immunology.

Qualifications
- Research Specialist A - Bachelor of Science and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Research Specialist B - Bachelor of Science and 1 to 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Position is contingent upon funding.
