Job Description Summary
The Tabrizi lab is seeking an outstanding Research Specialist A or B to join a dynamic new research program focused on cancer diagnostics and cancer biology, where the successful candidate will serve as a lab manager and perform laboratory research focused on liquid biopsies, cell free DNA biology, and cancer diagnostics. The position will consist of both lab management (assisting the PI in lab set-up), and performing experiments. This position is contingent upon funding.
Job Responsibilities
Research Specialist A
- Oversee ordering of supplies, equipment, consumables for the lab, tracking orders and shipping materials, obtaining quotes from vendors
- Assist with submission of protocols such as IBC and IACUC protocols
- Assist with lab and equipment set up and organization
- Perform basic molecular and cell biology experiments including maintaining cell culture, nucleic acid extraction/processing, protein and nucleic acid gels
- Train new members of the lab in lab methods and safety training
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Research Specialist B
In addition to all duties outlined above
- Independently design, troubleshoot, and optimize experiments
- Analyze and interpret experimental data with minimal supervision
- Contribute to manuscript preparation, presentations, and grant submissions
Qualifications
Research Specialist A
Bachelor of Science and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
Research Specialist B
Bachelor of Science and 1 to 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Masters preferred.
Preferred
- Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills with attention to detail
- Keen interest in cancer diagnostics and cancer biology
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
- Self-motivated with a strong willingness to learn and contribute to the lab's research goals
Position is contingent upon funding.
