Job Description Summary
We seek a Research Specialist A to join our research group to help study novel genome editing technologies. In this role, the Research Specialist will be focused on the expression and purification of proteins that including CRISPR-Cas variants and genome editors where CRISPR-Cas proteins are linked to various other DNA modifying enzymes. The Research Specialist will be part of the Kohli lab, but will be working on projects that are collaborative efforts between the Kohli lab and the lab of Junwei Shi. Hands-on responsibilities may include protein expression/purification and molecular biology techniques, along with biochemical assays for the characterization of purified proteins. Ideal candidates will have technical skills in executing experiments and also be very organized, have exceptional attention to detail, be good communicators, and have the ability to work well as part of a team.
Job Responsibilities
- Writing, editing, reviewing of written documents for publications and grants
- Assisting with other lab members experiments
- Lab and technical equipment maintenance
- Coordination with collaborators
- Training of others on established methods
- Recording of data and participation/presentation in weekly meetings
- Optimization of experimental protocols
- Other duties as assigned
CONTINGENT UPON FUNDING
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Pay Range: $44,500.00 - $50,000.00 Annual Rate
Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, and in alignment with salary ranges based on external market data for the job's level. Internal organization and peer data at Penn are also considered.
