Research Specialist B/C
Research Specialist B/C is needed to carry out an array of basic laboratory techniques to study the role of microglia and the immune system in brain aging and neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease. The work will involve cutting-edge molecular biology techniques, particularly in iPSC derived microglia and neurons. This work will also entail lab management including ordering, keeping lab inventory and general lab organization. More information can be found at www.haneylab.org.
Tasks will include supplies and equipment ordering, keeping inventory of supplies, human and mouse cell culture, DNA/RNA purification, PCR, sequencing library preparation. Experience in cell culture and cell-based assays is desired. Additional responsibilities include detailed and organized record keeping, writing, presenting research results to the PI, and implementing laboratory policies and procedures.
For Research Specialist C, this position will perform the duties listed for Research Specialist B but is required to have experience in research planning scope >4 weeks, to carry out troubleshooting experiments independently, to analyze and interpret data independently, and to write sections of manuscripts and progress reports describing research results.
Qualifications: RS-B - Bachelor's degree and 1-2 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. RS-C - Bachelor's degree and 3-4 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Job Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Department / School: Perelman School of Medicine. Pay Range: $50,000.00 - $67,794.79 Annual Rate.
