Research Specialist
Position Summary
The Attention, Distractions, and Memory (ADAM) Lab at Rice University is recruiting a full-time Research Specialist (Research Specialist I). The ADAM Lab (PI: Kirsten Adam) conducts cognitive neuroscience research and is located within the Department of Psychological Sciences and the School of Social Sciences at Rice University.
The Research Specialist will conduct human subjects research using behavioral and neuroimaging techniques (e.g., data collection and analysis for EEG experiments) and will assist with the execution and administration of ongoing research projects (e.g., maintaining ethics protocols, project documentation, data management).
Working Environment
- Physical Demands: The Research Specialist will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized lab space.
Salary
$42,500 annually
Exempt (salaried) positions under FLSA are not eligible for overtime. This is a one-year term limited position with the possibility of extension based upon need and available funding.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with major coursework in one of the major sciences
- In lieu of the education requirement, additional related experience, above and beyond what is required, on an equivalent year-for-year basis may be substituted
- 1+ year of experience in research work

Skills
- Listening, verbal and written communication, analytical, and research skills
- Statistical, graphical analysis, and/or computer programming skills (MATLAB, Python)
- Good scientific and numerical skills with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work in a team environment, participate actively, and collaborate with others

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience conducting human subjects research and/or neuroimaging research
Essential Functions
- Conducts specialized research and experiments (human subjects research with behavioral tasks and EEG measurements)
- Collects, tracks, and analyzes data through the use of spreadsheets and databases
- Works on research projects as a team and mentors undergraduate research team members
- May assist in the administration of research projects
- Performs other research and administrative duties as assigned
- May communicate results through verbal presentations, written reports, and written articles submitted for publication in conjunction with the PI
