The Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS) is part of the Medical Sciences Division and is the largest European academic department in its field, running a globally competitive programme of research and teaching. The Botnar Institute for Musculoskeletal Sciences enables and encourages research and education into the causes of musculoskeletal disease and their treatment. The Institute provides world-class facilities for scientists in the field of musculoskeletal research.

Reporting directly to the Senior Trial Manager, Gail Heritage, you will be working primarily on a research project that is part of a European consortium involving centres in UK, Netherlands, Portugal, Germany and Greece. The study is aiming to develop new digital tools to diagnose, monitor and treat disease. You will support three studies using smartphone apps and wearable devices like Fitbit to support patients. You will also assist with other smaller studies.
 
About the Role
 
In this role you will be part of an interdisciplinary team of scientists and clinician researchers studying PsA (Psoriatic arthritis). You will oversee the day-to-day running of research projects, including ethics applications, adherence to protocols and timelines. Additionally, you will provide leadership in study related matters including data queries and organisation of source files, monitoring procedures, and providing guidance and expertise on the study protocol as required. You will also ensure all study documentation is accurate and in place, maintaining Trial master files and site files for research studies, ensuring annual reporting to ethics committees and drafting and implementing ethical amendments where necessary. In this role you will support Dr Coates and the Senior Research Manager in the development, administration, and facilitation of related research and ad hoc projects, as well as liaise with stakeholders, funders and other partner organisations to ensure delivery of outputs is achieved on-time, on-budget and compliant with the relevant protocols.
 
About You
 
You must have a degree in a biomedical or associated subject, or other relevant qualification, or proven experience in clinically related research. Additionally, you will have knowledge and understanding of research methodology and experience of ethical approvals for clinical studies or studies using human tissue. You will be able to demonstrate proven administrative and project management skills, particularly of projects across multiple sites. You will demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and experience of working in interdisciplinary teams as well as demonstrate a critical and intelligent attention to detail and high standards of accuracy. You demonstrate ability to follow written procedures and set up processes to comply with such procedures and an ability to follow departmental guidance in handling sensitive and personal information, including complying with current data protection legislation.
Previous experience as a project manager/coordinator as well as an ability to contribute ideas for new research projects and research grant applications is desirable.
Interviews will take place during the week commencing 12 October and will be face to face/online.
 

£39,424 to £41,636 per annum (pro rata).Grade 7 This is inclusive of a pensionable Oxford University Weighting of £1,730 per year.
