Bond University is seeking a Research Support Officer (Pre‑Award) to help strengthen the University’s research success. In this key role, you will support researchers in developing high‑quality, competitive and compliant external funding applications across major national schemes (NHMRC, ARC, MRFF) as well as industry, philanthropic and international programs.

Reporting to the Director of Research Services, you’ll join a collaborative and researcher‑focused team. You’ll be providing expert pre‑award advice and helping to streamline and enhance processes that support research excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide end‑to‑end pre‑award support, including identifying opportunities, interpreting guidelines, preparing budgets, reviewing compliance and coordinating submissions.
  • Strengthen the competitiveness of grant applications through strategic and editorial feedback and coordinate internal review processes.
  • Manage a portfolio of funding programs, ensuring timely, compliant submissions and effective workflow across multiple deadlines.
  • Build strong, professional relationships with researchers, Faculties, Institutes and external funding bodies, while contributing to continuous improvement in research systems, processes and capability-building.

About the person

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Degree qualifications and demonstrated experience in pre‑award research administration, including funding identification, guideline interpretation, budgeting, and compliant submissions.
  • Strong ability to interpret complex funding rules and ensure applications meet all eligibility, policy and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent editorial, analytical and organisational skills to strengthen proposal quality, coordinate reviews, and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Proven stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with researchers, internal teams and external funding bodies.
  • Experience contributing to process improvement, workflow optimisation and researcher capability‑building (e.g., training or workshops).
  • A commitment to quality assurance, cultural awareness and WHS responsibilities. The successful applicant must provide a certified qualification before commencing.

Salary details

The salary for the position commences at $96,222.23 per annum, plus 12% superannuation.
