Research Teaching Specialist III
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist III within Cancer Epidemiology and Health Outcomes/Population Science at the Rutgers Cancer Institute.
The Research Teaching Specialist III conducts and coordinates all aspects of data management and programming in epidemiologic research. The Research Teaching Specialist III may be responsible for the management of a small-sized research program. The primary responsibility is to provide data management and programming support to fulfill the needs of faculty conducting cancer epidemiology and health services research.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- As assigned, performs data cleaning, management, and programming (e.g., R, SAS) to support research activities.
- Supports components of epidemiologic research studies as assigned by the Principal Investigator, conducting epidemiological and related research, and communicates with primary data collection staff to resolve discrepancies in recorded data.
- Assists in organizing and conducting specialized research activities for a particular research project.
- May assist senior staff in supporting students, fellows, and research staff in data analysis and relevant research projects as assigned by the Principal Investigators.
- May assist with the coordination and evaluation of non-professional staff training.
- Conducts data processing and statistical analyses (e.g., regression, survival analysis).
- Develops and maintains databases, analysis code, and data dictionaries for research projects; ensures reproducible workflows.
- Conducts analyses and prepares tables and figures to assist in the preparation of presentations, lectures, manuscripts, and grant applications for the funding of research activities.
- Attends and contributes to study team meetings to provide updates on data-related tasks and flag issues with ongoing data collection or analysis.
