Research Teaching Specialist III
Position Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist III for the department of Pharmacology, Physiology and Neuroscience at the New Jersey Medical School.
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, conducts specialized research, using judgement to adapt methods and techniques, as it relates to the function of the Amyloid Precursor Protein and its role in extracellular vesicles. May be responsible for the management of a small-sized laboratory area. Assists the Principal Investigator with budgetary, training and administrative responsibilities.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Assists in the establishment of performance standards, as well as in the selection of methodology and instrumentation.
- As assigned, carries out various technical and research operations relating to investigatory activities of the laboratory.
- May assist in organizing and conducting specialized research activities as it relates to the function of the Amyloid Precursor Protein and its role in extracellular vesicles.
- Assists with the instructing and training of students, fellows and technicians in various techniques and procedures to develop the skills necessary to carry out assignments in the laboratory assistants.
- Assists with the maintenance of the knock-in rat colony.
Minimum Education and Experience
Master's Degree in relevant science plus one (1) year of related experience or a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant science plus two (2) years of related experience.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Physical Demands: Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Must be able to lift or exert force up to thirty (30) pounds.
Work Environment: Office/Laboratory/ environment. Moderate noise.
Salary: $61,512
