Research Teaching Specialist IV
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist IV for the department of Psychiatry at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Research Teaching Specialist IV, will assist with multiple research studies relating to mental health, substance use problems, and technology tools for measuring health and facilitating behavior change. Research projects primarily focus on the treatment needs of individuals with substance use disorders. This position involves assisting the study team, conducting study protocols (e.g., recruiting and interviewing study participants), and cleaning or analyzing study data (e.g., preparing reports). Some research responsibilities may be conducted in substance use disorder treatment settings or other care settings (e.g., Primary Care clinics).
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, conducts study procedures as approved by the Institutional Review Board. Assists in evaluating existing procedures and suggest revisions, or propose new procedures, as needed or requested.
- Attends project-specific training and research project meetings.
- Keeps detailed records of study procedures. Maintains study documents, specifically sensitive data containing confidential information.
- Recruits and enrolls participants remotely and in partnership with substance use or medical settings.
- Schedules participant meetings. Interacts with participants to resolve problems or answer questions regarding remote data collection.
- Conducts participant interviews and administer other data collection measures.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master's Degree in a relevant science or Bachelor's Degree in a relevant science plus one (1) year of related research experience required. Relevant science includes the social sciences (e.g., Psychology, Public Health, Social Work).
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Physical Demands: Standing, sitting, walking, talking or hearing. Must be able to lift or exert up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment: Office environment, substance abuse treatment, and primary care settings; moderate noise.
