Job Title: Term Research Technician 1 (Part-Time)

Department: Plant Pathology

College: Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences

Location: Kottman Hall, Columbus Campus

Position Overview: The Department of Plant Pathology is seeking a part-time Term Research Technician 1 to support ongoing research focused on tree diseases. This role is ideal for candidates with a strong interest in plant science and molecular biology. The technician will assist in laboratory and greenhouse experiments aimed at understanding molecular interactions between trees and pathogens.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cultivate and maintain tree specimens in a greenhouse setting
• Extract and manipulate DNA and RNA from plant and fungal samples
• Perform PCR and amplicon sequence analysis
• Assist in molecular biology experiments related to tree-pathogen interactions
• Support data analysis and contribute to monthly data reporting
• Maintain accurate lab records and follow safety protocols

Minimum Required Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED
• No prior experience required; training will be provided

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with basic molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, DNA/RNA extraction)
• Experience working in a greenhouse or laboratory setting
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
