Job Description
The Jones Laboratory within the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Department at Boston University Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine is seeking applicants for the position of research technician. The position involves working on projects focused on identifying methods to measure tissue damage in response to pathogenic bacteria and tracking T cell responses to these bacteria. Responsibilities include performing animal husbandry, genotyping, growing bacterial stocks for animal experiments, and analysis of animal tissue following clearance of infection.
CORE DUTIES IN DETAILS:
- Care for and manage laboratory animals, ensuring their health and well-being.
- Collect tissue samples from animals for analysis
- Cultivate and maintain bacterial stocks necessary for animal experiments.
- Prepare inoculums with appropriate bacterial concentrations for experimental use.
- Assist in in vivo cell transplantation studies and measurement of cell engraftment.
- Assist in in vivo functional studies of lymphatic vessel contractility.
- Perform immunofluorescence and histological staining of mouse tissue.
- Work closely with research team to coordinate experiments.
- Communicate effectively with team members regarding project progress.
- Maintain detailed laboratory records.
Required Skills
Undergraduate degree in biology or related scientific field is required. Experience with some of the following is expected:
- Immunohistochemistry.
- Basic molecular assays. (e.g., RNA isolation, qPCR)
- Tissue culture.
- Animal Husbandry.

Position Type: Full-Time/Regular
Salary Grade: $17.50-$28.03
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training and internal pay comparison. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
