The successful candidate will provide professional research assistance with ongoing projects at the Sustainable Agroecosystems Lab in the Department of Horticulture and Crop Science. Research at the SAS Lab focuses on crop-livestock integration and environmental impact assessments in forage and grazing systems.
Primary duties include
- Support leading team to conduct experiments and perform data collection in lab and field environments.
- Analyze samples in the Lab and manage data.
- Assistance with preparing research findings for presentations and publications.
- Setup and maintain Lab.
- Assist with supervising work study students and/or student research assistants as needed.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Essential Duties
Conduct and participate in data collection:
- including experimental setup and implementation, samples collection in field settings, processing of forage, soils and greenhouse gas samples in the Lab, handling equipment such as near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) and gas chromatography, supporting undergraduate students in Lab tasks.
Preparing and formatting data for manuscripts,
- supporting with extension materials and information sharing materials, such as social media, website, and factsheets.

Minimum Education Required
High School Diploma
Required Qualifications
Experience with crop-livestock management practices. Experience with forage, soils, and greenhouse gas emissions. Experience with NIRS and chromatography. 1-2 years of experience required. 2-3 preferred.
Desired Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural, Soil, Animal, or Environmental Sciences.
