Research Technician

The MINDSET Lab in the Department of Psychology within the College of Arts and Sciences at The Ohio State University invites applications for a full-time Research Technician position. Directed by Dr. Jasmeet Hayes, the lab examines the effects of traumatic brain injury (TBI)/concussion and psychological trauma on cognition and brain function using advanced neuroimaging approaches, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

This position supports a federally funded research program at the intersection of clinical neuroscience and psychology. The Research Technician will assist with the day-to-day activities of a research project examining links between concussion and accelerated aging. Responsibilities include supporting the maintenance of research data and repositories, assisting with study documentation, and providing support for IRB submissions and amendments following established procedures.

The Research Technician will also assist with the processing of behavioral and MRI data using established protocols and under the guidance of senior research staff. Additional responsibilities include supporting general lab operations, such as research-related purchasing and maintaining lab materials and resources to ensure efficient lab functioning.

This position is best suited for candidates who are organized, detail-oriented, and able to follow established procedures while working both independently and as part of a team. Prior research experience, particularly in psychology, neuroscience, or a related field, is preferred.

This is a two-year position, pending successful performance in Year 1, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and continued funding.

Minimum Education Required

  • High School Diploma

Additional Education Desired

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, neuroscience, or related field

Required Qualifications

  • At least one (1) year of relevant experience supporting laboratory or research activities following established procedures, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Ability to follow established protocols and procedures
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Basic experience with research or laboratory environments preferred

The pay range for this job profile is $15.86 - $20.74. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, the unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
