Essential Job Duties: As the research technician you will support applied research and extension projects focused on turfgrass, forage systems, and precision weed management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with field and greenhouse experiments evaluating turf and forage tolerance to herbicides
- Apply herbicide treatments and assess weed control efficacy
- Maintain research plots and collect, organize, and summarize data
- Support outreach initiatives and contribute to research reports
- Collaborate with the Principal Investigator, with opportunities to lead independent research projects after training

Other Work/Responsibilities: The individual will also be responsible for ordering supplies, maintaining research equipment, and managing the lab's pesticide inventory to support ongoing research activities.
Minimum Experience/Education: Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Required Qualifications:
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent Interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently on defined tasks and with others in a team setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in turfgrass management, weed science, agronomy, or a related field.
- Experience in maintaining field equipment (tractor, sprayer, mower, truck).
- Ability to work independently and with a team under field and greenhouse conditions.
- Willingness to travel within the state based on research needs.
- Experience with research experiments focused on turfgrass, herbicide efficacy, or precision technologies.
Required license or certification:
- Have a valid North Carolina State Pesticide Applicator's license or ability to obtain one within 3 months of being hired.
- A valid NC Driver's License and the ability to obtain an NC Driver's License within 60 days of hire.
- A valid Driver's License must be maintained throughout employment.
