We are recruiting a research technician to our group within the Centre for Biological Timing at the University of Manchester. We explore how energy metabolism is regulated by the circadian clock in health and disease; specifically, we use in vivo and in vitro models to study how the clock controls the properties of fat cells (adipocytes) under the challenge of obesity.
The post holder will support a range of in vivo and in vitro research activities, and we are looking for an experienced scientist who can design and perform experiments independently, and make a substantial contribution to data analysis and presentation.
As the post holder will also contribute to general laboratory management, we are seeking a candidate who is highly organised, and has knowledge of relevant health and safety practices.
This post is advertised as full time. However, we are open to candidates who prefer less-than-full-time working, and we would consider offering the post at
0.8 FTE for a potential longer contract duration.
Successful candidates may be subject to pre-employment screening carried out on our behalf by a third party. The offer of employment will be dependent on the successful candidate passing that screening. Whilst you will be required to provide express consent at a later stage, by continuing with your application now you acknowledge that you are aware that such screening will take place, and agree to take part in the process.
What you will get in return:
- Fantastic market leading Pension scheme
- Excellent employee health and wellbeing services including an Employee Assistance Programme
- Exceptional starting annual leave entitlement, plus bank holidays
- Additional paid closure over the Christmas period
- Local and national discounts at a range of major retailers
As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, sex, gender (or gender identity), ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status. All appointments are made on merit.
