Research Technician

About the Role

The appointed person will undertake research investigations in collaboration with, and under the supervision of, Dr Karine Rizzoti. They will provide both technical and administrative support to advance the objectives and development of the research programme investigating a dual origin for pituitary gonadotrophs and its relevance to the reproductive function in health and disease.

About You

The successful candidate will hold a BSc or equivalent qualification in a biological or related science; a Master’s degree in a relevant field is desirable but not essential. The role requires strong laboratory skills and a willingness to work with animals in accordance with ethical research standards.

Essential experience includes immunohistochemistry, tissue preparation, and use of software for data handling, analysis and presentation. Candidates should demonstrate good organisational and communication skills, reliability, effective time management, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Experience in molecular and cell biology techniques, microscopy and imaging, and strong analytical and presentation skills are desirable but not essential.

About the Institute

The William Harvey Research Institute (WHRI), part of Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry, is dedicated to excellence in research, teaching, and clinical service in Endocrinology, Cardiovascular Science, and Inflammation. Its research spans basic, clinical, and translational programmes aimed at improving diagnosis, treatment, and health policy in partnership with Barts Health NHS Trust.

This post is based within the Centre for Endocrinology, which unites leading clinical and non-clinical scientists investigating the genetic, cellular, and molecular basis of endocrine diseases.
