Position Highlights
The College of Medicine-Tucson, Department of Psychiatry, is leading the effort to understand, diagnose, treat, and prevent psychiatric disorders, prepare future clinicians, provide state-of-the-art care, and give direction to community efforts to improve behavioral health.
We are looking to hire two Research Technician I positions that will conduct and support human subjects research by setting up and conducting study tasks in lab during sleep deprivation studies. The candidates will adhere to study protocol procedures, administer techniques to meet specific experimental requirements, and assist with the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment, instruments, and apparatuses.
William "Scott" Killgore, PhD, is a Professor of Psychiatry, Psychology, and Neuroscience who joined the University of Arizona on July 1, 2014. He brings an active research program from Harvard Medical School and McLean Hospital, including his Social, Cognitive, and Affective Neuroscience (SCAN) Laboratory. The Lab is devoted to the study of emotional intelligence, PTSD, mTBI, stress, and related conditions. Dr. Killgore's innovative work is funded by the Department of Defense, and recent research focuses on the effects of prolonged sleep deprivation, chronic sleep restriction, and the use of stimulant countermeasures on the cognitive-affective systems within the brain.
- Overnight and occasional weekend shifts will be required for this position.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Collect computerized behavioral data from research participants during overnight total sleep deprivation study runs.
- Maintain highly detailed records, organize data, prepare data for computer input, and record computer output.

Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
