Position Summary
The Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University at Buffalo is hiring a Research Technician 1.
Under close supervision of Principal Investigator, the candidate will:
- Conduct a variety of routine experiments following established procedures and protocols, which may include performing assays, tissue culture, electrophoresis, PCR, DNA extraction, microscopy, animal work and other laboratory techniques.
- Record test results, maintain laboratory equipment and supplies, and monitor animal colonies.
- Provide technical assistance to postdocs/graduate students and other research staff within the group.
- Assist in the execution of small animal (mouse) handling and surgeries and participate in executing experiments involving cellular and molecular biology assays.
- Be involved in the management and care of the animal colony.
- Other duties involve the maintenance of lab equipment, preparing stock solutions and placing various orders based on lab needs.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Microbiology or a related field, and one year of experience directly related to the research or the program.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working with rodents
- Self-motivated and ability to work independently and collaborate within a team, time-management and organizational skills, strong communication skills
Salary Range
$35,000 - $40,000
