Research Technician – Blood Cancer Biology and Immunology

The Lin lab is seeking a highly motivated and team-oriented entry-level research technician. We are a newly-established translational lymphoma research group focused on the interplay between tumor and microenvironment in lymphomagenesis and disease progression, as well as preclinical studies of targeted therapies for precision medicine.

This role offers hands-on training in cell culture, mouse husbandry and treatment, flow cytometric analysis, genotyping, western blotting, and library preparation for sequencing, along with opportunities to contribute to manuscripts, grants, and scientific presentations. The position will also involve general lab management duties, including ordering, inventory of animals, cell lines, reagents, and maintenance of laboratory equipment. Depending on prior experience and future ambitions, the technician may assist in maintaining lymphoma cell cultures, performing immunophenotyping and molecular assays (e.g., flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, qPCR), preparing samples for next-generation sequencing, analyzing sequencing data, and working with relevant tissue samples from de-identified patients. Research technicians are expected to collaborate with other lab members on specific projects as requested. Additionally, they will help draft and edit research publications, conduct literature reviews, and prepare various documentation.

The position provides a unique opportunity to work with an MD-PhD physician scientist who has expertise in blood cancer, pathology diagnosis, and translational laboratory research. The job will allow candidates to gain experience at the intersection of bench and patient-oriented research, as well as writing and presentation skills, making it ideal for those considering advanced research roles, cultivating skills for graduate studies or medical school.

Preferences

Ideal candidates will have an Associate degree in Biology, Immunology, Data Science, or a related field, with a strong interest in translational oncology and immunology research, and excellent scientific writing skills. Prior experience in cell culture, mouse handling, immunology, or molecular biology is desirable but not required, as training will be provided. Applicants who are able to offer a one-year minimum commitment are preferred.
