Position Highlights
The incumbent will be performing a variety of laboratory tasks and experiments that directly support the primary research focus. Following the instruction from PI and other senior lab personnel, manage mouse colonies, perform histology and immunostaining, acquire and analyze fluorescent and micro-CT images and other tasks if needed. The incumbent will work independently and closely with others on projects in the lab.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs histology and immunostaining experiments; acquires and analyzes high-resolution images using confocal, light sheet, and micro-CT microscopy.
- Maintains genetically-modified mouse colonies by performing rodent work and related experimentation procedures; including dissections, biological compound injections, and glucose tolerance tests.
- Performs RNA extraction / real time PCR (qPCR), protein extraction and Western blotting, as well as routine cell culture techniques.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to handle the mice, perform cell culture or genotyping.
- Ability to analyze research results.
- Ability to report results to the PI and in the laboratory meetings.
- Ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner orally and in writing.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
- Prior work experience not required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous research experience (internship, independent study).
- Familiarity with animal work, genotyping, cell culture or molecular analysis.
- At least one year of college education in biomedical science, with some bench work and animal study experience.
