Position Highlights
The successful candidate will be trained to work at Biosafety Level 3 to generate and curate viral stocks, perform neutralizing test titers, and complete functional immune assays aimed at understanding how immune system function changes as we age. This position will facilitate, implement, perform, and oversee the maintenance of cell culture and lab equipment, record keeping and filing, and training of personnel. Experience handling mice, working with viral pathogens, cell culture, processing and handling of animal or human tissue specimens, ELISA, and flow cytometry is ideal.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform highly-technical experiments in support of research projects using techniques including: virus culture, plaque assay, neutralization tests, ELISA, immunohistochemistry, and high-parameter flow cytometry.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot sophisticated equipment associated with these experiments based on specialized skills and knowledge.
- Independently work at biosafety level 2 and 3 with pathogens including West Nile virus, SARS-CoV-2, Chikungunya virus, and Kunjin virus ensuring safety compliance and adherence to lab policies and procedures.
- Review progress and evaluates results.
- Collaborate and communicate outcomes to the research team.
- Direct mouse handling and complex experiments will be necessary.
- Organize, analyze, and report annotated data to the project lead.
- Prepare data and figures for technical reports, summaries, presentations, and publications.
- Isolate data problems, and recommend solutions and modifications.
- Coordinate lab notebook maintenance, record keeping, and statistical analysis.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to graduate and undergraduate students working the the team.
- Provide research support to the lab including stocking of supplies, glass washing, and autoclaving.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Basic understanding of immunology

Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
- Seven (7) years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with flow cytometry staining and analysis; tissue processing for flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry,
- Tissue culture and sterile techniques are a plus.
