Job Summary

Assist research involving transgenic mouse models to study Alzheimer's disease, neuropsychiatric conditions, and microbiome interactions.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities to include but not limited to:

• Assist research involving transgenic mouse models to study Alzheimer's disease, neuropsychiatric conditions, and microbiome interactions (e.g., feeding special diets, administrating pharmacological drugs to mice; weighting mice; animal behavior tests)
• Collect specimens (e.g., brain, fecal samples) and maintain the organized sample collection and processing logs
• Assist sample processing by microtome/cryostat sectioning.
• Assist and maintain mouse breeding colonies and genotyping.
• Perform molecular biology experiments such as qRT-PCR, ELISA, western blotting, microscopic, and statistical analysis. Will perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization supplemented by two years of college level work in the physical and/or biological sciences, and considerable experience in performing diagnostic laboratory tests and examinations in the specialized area assigned to work.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required).

Pay Band: B4

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
