Job Description
Assist research involving transgenic mouse models to study Alzheimer's disease, neuropsychiatric conditions, and microbiome interactions.
Responsibilities
Assist research involving transgenic mouse models to study Alzheimer's disease, neuropsychiatric conditions, and microbiome interactions (e.g., feeding special diets, administrating pharmacological drugs to mice; weighting mice; animal behavior tests). Collect specimens (e.g., brain, fecal samples) and maintain the organized sample collection and processing logs. Assist sample processing by microtome/cryostat sectioning. Assist and maintain mouse breeding colonies and genotyping. Perform molecular biology experiments such as qRT-PCR, ELISA, western blotting, microscopic, and statistical analysis. Will perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization supplemented by two years of college level work in the physical and/or biological sciences, and considerable experience in performing diagnostic laboratory tests and examinations in the specialized area assigned to work.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required). Pay Band: B4. Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position. Recruitment Period: Until Filled.
