Research Technician

The Fisher Laboratory in the Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at Wesleyan University seeks a full-time Research Technician.
Reporting to the Professor of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, the Research Technician will join an NIH-funded research group dedicated to investigating the structure and function of bacterial proteins involved in copper homeostasis and transcriptional regulation.
Responsibilities include:
- Execute research projects using standard techniques in molecular biology and biochemistry (protein expression and purification, gel electrophoresis, biochemical and biophysical assays)
- Maintain a detailed lab notebook documenting all experimental work
- Maintain inventory records and purchase supplies
- Supervision of undergraduate work-study students
- Other duties as assigned

This is an on-campus position.
Funding for this position has been approved for 1 year, with the possibility of renewal for a second year.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
B.S. or B.A. in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry or a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
Experience with protein production and in vitro assays
Demonstrate strong organization and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to maintain accurate records.
Demonstrated commitment to working within a diverse environment and ability to build effective collaborative relationships.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in structural biology or bioinorganic chemistry.
