Research Technician - Neuroscience & Regenerative Medicine
Job Description
Perform a variety of routine and complex technical duties involved in conducting specialized tests such as biological, biochemical, serological, parasitological, bacteriological, hematological, urological and clinical tests in support of research initiatives. Responsible for accuracy of results and re-testing when appropriate.
Responsibilities
- Participate in research data collection and documentation within relevant guidelines and protocols; develop and evaluate new research techniques and procedures. Studies using awake and anesthetized rodent, and awake and anesthetized large animals, will be assisted. Perform a variety of chemical, biological, cytologic, microscopic, histologic, surgical, clinical, statistical/computational and dissection procedures. Training will generally be provided for unfamiliar tasks. Compliance with Service standards, maintain records for animal welfare compliance. Perform a variety of experimental studies in rodents and large animals designed to evaluate and test the efficacy of deep brain stimulation to modify the course of Alzheimer's Disease.
- Contribute to lab management. Duties include but not limited to determining needed new supplies and equipment, making responsible purchasing decisions, placing orders, maintaining computer database and hard copies for inventories, e.g. chemicals, supplies, frozen cell and tissue stocks, DNA clones, antibodies, etc.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization supplemented by two years of college level work in the physical and/or biological sciences, and considerable experience in performing diagnostic laboratory tests and examinations in the specialized area assigned to work.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to maintain confidentiality. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday. Pay Band: B4. Salary Minimum: $17.02 per hour. Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position. Recruitment Period: Until Filled.
