Research Technician Senior
We are seeking an experienced, positive, highly motivated, organized, autonomous person with excellent multitasking ability and record-keeping skills to join the Research Program on Cognition and Neuromodulation Based Interventions. The primary emphasis of this program is on cognitive rehabilitation in older adults and those in the early stages of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. The successful candidate will be expected to perform a range of duties in support of multiple research projects. The characteristic duties and responsibilities of this position may evolve to match changing needs and priorities.
The candidate will be working on a grant that involves the administration of Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation, Functional Near Infrared Spectroscopy and Immersive Virtual Reality paradigms with older adults with cognitive impairment. The candidate will operate in a semi-independent manner to assist in the set up and collection of data using these methodologies. Will be experienced enough with the methodologies to be able to judge the validity of test data obtained and suggest future improvements in data collection. It is expected that the successful candidate will be able to perform all study-related duties if/as needed. Will assist with the development and design of the research methodologies being used in this grant. Opportunities to lead or assist with the creation of posters, papers, and presentations for scientific meetings will be available. The candidate will handle other scientific administration and clerical activities as directed to support the Research Program, including coordinating with other researchers throughout the health system.
- Bachelors Degree in Psychology, Health Science or Neuroscience required
- 2 + Years' experience in clinical research
- Ability to implement moderately-complex research tasks and suggest future improvements in data measurements
- Familiarity with Michigan Medicine/University of Michigan processes/software (such as HSIP, EPIC and REDCap)
- Proficiency with administration of tDCS, fNIRs and iVR
- Experience with administering and scoring neuropsychological tests (such as OLTT and RBANS) to research participants
- Ability to provide input into the development of research procedures
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Ability to work semi-independently with minimal supervision and with diverse teams of people in a diplomatic, collaborative and effective manner.
- Competent in problem-solving and establishment of timelines and priorities
- Available to work occasional evenings and weekends as necessary to support the program
- Must have reliable transportation since local travel will be expected
- Familiarity with neuroimaging tasks
- Expertise in the development of SOPs
- Understanding of investigator-initiated studies
- Experience working with older adults with a variety of neurodegenerative diseases
This position is held onsite (fully in person) Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
