Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic research team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting ongoing scientific investigations, primarily involving mouse handling and mammalian cell culture. Responsibilities
Animal Work:
- Perform various mouse experimental procedures (e.g., injections, dissections, tissue collection, surgery)
- Perform routine animal husbandry tasks (e.g., genotyping, weaning, health monitoring)
- Maintain accurate records of mouse colony status and experimental data in accordance with IACUC protocols
- Perform advanced mouse surgical procedures, including intracranial injections and surgeries
Mammalian Cell Culture:
- Perform aseptic cell culture techniques, including passaging, media preparation, cryopreservation, genetic modification, and thawing of various mammalian cell lines and primary human cells
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of cell line inventory and experimental procedures
- Contribute to the optimization of cell culture protocols
Laboratory Maintenance and Support:
- Order and maintain laboratory supplies and reagents
- Prepare common laboratory solutions and buffers
- Ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of laboratory equipment
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment
- Adhere to all safety regulations and institutional guidelines
Data Recording and Analysis:
- Accurately record experimental data in laboratory notebooks and electronic databases
- Assist with basic data organization and preliminary analysis
- Prepare presentation slides and present data in group meetings
Lentiviral:
- Production, handling, and titration of lentiviral vectors. Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) containment practices.
Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience). Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels: Research Technician, I: Requires little to no related experience. Research Technician, II: Requires at least 1 year of related experience.
