Job Summary:

This position is based in the Laboratory for Neurovascular Imaging Technology and Translation (NITT) and involves conducting experimental research, assisting in the design of specific phases of projects, and ensuring compliance with protocols, policies, procedures, and regulations, including Good Clinical and Good Laboratory Practices.

The role includes tasks such as conducting MRI studies, analyzing image data, and contributing to the overall progress of research. The position also offers opportunities to gain hands-on experience with biomedical imaging technology, including MRI and image processing.

Specific Responsibilities:

Technical:

  • Design, set up, and conduct basic experiments following research protocols.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot data from experiments, suggesting improvements for validity and accuracy.
  • Perform MRI scans on phantom and human participants.
  • Consent participants for MRI studies.
  • Conduct MRI image processing and data analysis.

Administration:

  • Maintain detailed records of experimental results, including collecting, extracting, and entering data.
  • Interpret and present data, including preparing charts and graphs for presentations and publications.
  • Conduct literature searches to support ongoing research.
  • Contribute to writing grant applications, manuscripts, and publications.
  • Manage and maintain lab databases.
  • Analyze and process statistical data.

Finance:

  • Track and summarize lab supply expenses.
  • Verify invoice accuracy.
  • Order and maintain inventory of reagents, mice, and other lab supplies.

Supervision:

  • Train students in lab techniques and procedures.

Miscellaneous:

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university, leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a scientific major or related field; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.

Minimum Competencies (Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities):

  • Demonstrated laboratory experience.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions as required by research protocols.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including spreadsheets and basic computations.
  • Attention to detail and accurate record keeping.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn image processing with training provided by lab supervisors.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Competencies (Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities):

  • Good communication skills.
  • General computer programming skills.

Target Hiring Range:

$19.89 - $24.86 per hour.

Salary will be determined based on the applicant's education, experience, skills, and alignment with market data.
