Provides expertise in support of research projects in engineering, biology, mathematics, statistics, computer science, physics, etc. Prepares and edits research papers, proposal, and reports. Performs advanced testing procedures and analyses of data. May prepare samples for testing. Performs advanced testing procedure and performs analyses of data. Makes uses of a variety of specialized equipment typical within area of specialization. May contribute to grant proposal development. Ensures experiments are performed according to specifications. May make recommendations to changes in procedure, processes, or experimental design. Possesses, understands, and applies an advanced knowledge of a professional natural, physical, or engineering field or multiple fields of specialization to develop unique and new approaches or ideas. Understands and uses research tools and equipment and utilizes effective management techniques.

  1. Plans and conducts research in one or more large and complex areas of specialization.
  2. Reviews progress of projects. May liaison with other areas of specialization to obtain support or technical expertise for projects.
  3. Defines procedures or processes to be used in the experimental processes.
  4. May personally conduct important and/or technically complex investigations.
  5. Operates with considerable latitude for unreviewed action.
  6. Reviews and evaluates the effectiveness of personnel.

Description:
The Department of Pharmacological and Pharmaceutical Sciences (PPS)at the College of Pharmacy, University of Houston invites applications for a full-time Researcher Nat Science position in the areas of pharmaceutics and pharmacokinetics. The primary responsibility is to lead the day-to-day effort in conducting research in the lab as the researcher scientist for the research group; will participate in conducting experiment, sample collection and analysis, data analysis, prepare reports and manuscripts, present at conferences, and participate in grant writing in the areas of LCMS analysis of drugs/extracts/metabolites, disease biomarkers, proteomics and metabolomics in preclinical and clinical samples.

The researcher scientist is expected to perform all duties described in the assigned projects, including skills but not limited to (1) develop and validate LCMS2 methods for analyzing small and large molecules, and metabolites in biospecimen, herbal extracts and drug formulation, endogenous substrates, and proteins and peptides; (2) develop LCMS global and targeted proteomic and metabolomic workflow for research projects in the lab; (3) Perform metabolite profiling and DMPK studies; (4) train, supervise, and mentor graduate students and postdocs in LCMS techniques, when required; (5) prepare data for reports, manuscript, and grant submission; (6) present research at national and international meetings.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in medicine, pharmacy, or other relevant fields with 5 more years of LCMS experience in an academic or industry setting.
