- Participates in the research of the Cytogenetics Lab in collaboration with the Department of Pathology
- Conducts experiments and procedures in cytogenetics, molecular genetics, PCR applications, nick translation, tissue culture and growth of YACs and BACs
- Establishes new research methods
- Coordinates processing and analysis of research data
- Prepares research papers
- Maintains CLIA certification ensuring regulatory compliance
- Serves as consultant to the principal investigator
Education and Experience:
- Master's Degree required; Doctorate (desired)
- Completed additional graduate course work in genetics required
- Considerable research experience, preferably in cytogenetics, required
- Knowledge of molecular genetics and classical cytogenetics required including karyotyping
- Proficiency in FISH techniques required
- Experience in a progressively responsible administrative capacity desired
- Computer proficiency desired with knowledge of spreadsheet and presentation software applications
- Proficiency using web-based databases required
- Ability to work independently required.
